Welcome to ParentsCAN’S new e-Resource Center!
Our e-Resource Center offers families an easy-to-use library of videos and resources from trusted sources on the topics that parents ask us about most often. The e-Resource Center is organized into sections to make it quick and easy for you to find the information you need. We’ve carefully screened and curated the library to include short videos, links to content written in plain language that’s easy to understand, and bilingual resources. We hope that our e-Resource Center will help parents grow their knowledge and confidence as advocates for their child with special needs.
Whether you have concerns about your child’s development or have received a new diagnosis for your child, the resources in this section of our e-Resource Center aim to help you understand your child’s challenges and introduce you to the some of the resources available to help your child.
Your Child's Rights Under the Law
This section of our e-Resource Center is designed to help you understand your child’s legal rights. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the federal law that governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education, and related services. We’ve included short, easy-to-understand videos and resources that highlight the most important of aspects of IDEA that you should be aware off.
We’ve also included links to other key disability legislation for those who would like to read up on these important laws in more details.
Understanding the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
The IEP will be an important part of your child’s academic career. The IEP can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect, so we’ve designed this section of our e-Resource Center to help you learn about the key components of the IEP, so you can feel knowledgeable and ready to participate in your child’s IEP meeting.
This section of our e-Resource Center includes links to local, state and federal agencies that many of our families have connected to for services and assistance. ParentsCAN is here to help too, so please don’t hesitate to call us at 707-253-7444.
